Summer Slowdown? Not Quite.

July Reflections from the Field

July in Arizona is always a paradox. The triple-digit heat begs you to slow down, but somehow the world keeps spinning just as fast.

As the monsoon clouds start to build over the Valley, I find myself reflecting on how this mid-year moment in the appraisal world carries its own unique rhythm. Families are squeezing in final road trips, agents are navigating the summer listings, and meanwhile, we appraisers are threading the needle—balancing the heat, the market pulse, and our own schedules.

For me, July is about leaning into the balance. I take full advantage of the early morning hours, getting boots on the ground before the pavement sizzles. I prioritize time with family—because those summer moments are as fleeting as a properly priced listing in a hot zip code.

But make no mistake: July isn’t a month off. It’s a month of sharpening. A time to check in on CE hours, prep for the back-half of the year, and—personally—gear up for some exciting Appraisal Institute events this Fall in my role as the 2025 Chapter President of the Phoenix Chapter.

Being involved in our local chapter has always grounded me. It reminds me that this profession is more than reports and comps—it’s a community. And as we look ahead to AI events and upcoming educational opportunities, I hope to see many of you there. Let’s keep raising the bar and supporting each other.

Stay safe, stay sharp, and keep your AC running.
